Description
Buildings with renewable energy generation will require less energy from the grid thereby reducing emissions associated with electricity generation. By 2030, 4% of the electricity consumed by residential and commercial buildings will be generated through solar PVs, and by 2050, that will rise to 38% of such electricity.
This action will be led by building owners with support from community capacity building organizations.
The Downtown Kitchener district energy feasibility study is progressing. The project would significantly decrease emissions from both existing and new buildings, and provide a long-term path to decarbonization for system customers without individual building-level changes being required.
